Organic Red New Potatoes from Oak Valley Organics

I've said it once, and I'll say it again: Jumping potatoes are the go-to method/recipe of the summer (and forever). Simple, one-pot, and easy to incorporate ANY herb you like. Our recipe at the top of this blog post uses summer savoury, but try it with whatever you'd like! (Carrot greens might be a nice play, too!)

Spray-free Basil from Twin Rivers Farm

The undisputed herb champion (sorry, Italian side coming out again). You gotta know what to do with this if you're ordering a farm box, right? Do I need to describe this one?
Ok fine: make a pesto, top a margherita pizza (pick up a few Archie's crusts from our market and make your own, trust me), reduce with sugar and water for a delicious simple syrup, muddle into a cocktail (I even throw a leaf in an iced cold cola from time to time!), mix into aioli for a sandwich or fry dip, or fold into chopped, fresh field strawberries with sugar for a sweet, floral ice cream topping like you've never had before!

Spray-free Grape Tomatoes from Twin River

Small and sweet, but typically a bit more acidic than Cherry tomatoes, these are perfect for snacking. They'll also blister beautifully in a pan, or lend some balanced substance to a salad or sandwich!

Organic Garlic from Hearts and Roots

Fresh-from-the-ground is much more potent and than garlic that has sat in a truck or shelf for weeks+! Adjust your use accordingly if you're not a garlic fiend (the rest of us, rejoice!)

Spray-free Green Head Lettuce from Jonathan Farms

Sweet and tender! This leafy lettuce adds a crisp freshness to salads or sandwiches without much water content!

Spray-free Orange Carrots from Jonathan Farms

Sweet, tender and fresh -- did you know the greens are an excellent source of nutrition and EASY to turn into a delicious dish all on their own? Check out Cryssi's Carrot Greens: 3 ways, on the recipe blog for your own inspiration!

Organic Green Onions from Blue Lagoon Organics

Fragrant, sweet and milder than storage onions. These are beautiful blended into seasonings or chopped up as the perfect finishing garnish.
Chef Cryssi whipped up some amazing recipes for these with some help from our Kitchen Team member Sophie!

Spray-free Salad Cucumbers from Green Acres Farm

Great for pickling, or as the name suggests, thrown into a salad. Cucumbers are the perfect vegetable for beating the heat (and we've got lots of that coming!).

Spray-free Purple Carrots from Slow River Gardens

Some of the earliest carrots cultivated were actually purple or yellow!
These purple beauties derive their colour from the presence of anthocyanin -- a powerful antioxidant. These contain twice as much alpha and beta-carotene as orange carrots, and are sure to make a statement on the plate, however they're served. Treat as you would an orange carrot, (with perhaps a bit more oooh and ahhh).

Organic Paris Market Carrots

This heirloom variety of carrot dates back to the 19th century in France! These carrots bring a sweet, bright flavour and are perfect for roasting, given their round, bulbous shape. Don't forget to eat the delicious greens with these recipes! (I'd go for the roasted carrots with carrot green gremolata, myself!)

Organic Garlic from Hearts and Roots

Fresh-from-the-ground is much more potent and than garlic that has sat in a truck or shelf for weeks+! Adjust your use accordingly if you're not a garlic fiend (the rest of us, rejoice!)
Try blending with Carrot Greens for a delicious Pistou, or "French Pesto!"

Spray-free Black Kale from Slow River Gardens

Also known as Tuscan Kale due to its rich history in Italian dishes, this variety is the most tender of kales! An original component of minestrone soup, this green is no stranger to being stewed, grilled or sauteed, but is just as tasty raw as it requires much less massaging than its green or red cousins!

Spray-free Kohlrabi from Jonathan Farms

Available in purple and green varieties, this brassica may seem intimidating if you've never worked with it before. Feat not! Getting to its crisp, juicy core is a fairly simple task even for new knife-wielders (check out our Instagram TV for a quick tutorial!) We just worked out some great recipes with Kohlrabi on the blog, so if you're still stuck on how to eat it after peeling, check these out! Or just snack on it raw!
P.S. The greens are edible and delicious, too!

Spray-free Salad Cucumbers from Green Acres Farm
