Spray Free Lettuce Mix from Slow River Gardens

The classic blend, but fresh and local!

We tried this salad and we loved BUT skip the dressing and give our pink vinaigrette a try.

Spray Free Chard from Jonathan Farms

Chard lies somewhere between spinach and kale in the 'greens spectrum' -- not as earthy or tough as kale, not as tender as spinach. This green is extremely versatile -- it can be sauteed, eaten raw in salad, and is delicious grilled over charcoal or on a regular grill. The stalks are traditionally prepared separately from the leaves, but who needs tradition

Try this recipe!

Organic Rhubarb from Blue Lagoon

A Manitoba staple! Amazing in pies, reduced into a tasty syrup (you can make our Rhubarb refreshers at home (🤫) or just roll in honey or sugar and eat raw!

Check this Rhubarb Lemonade Recipe out for a hot day.

Spray Free Cocktail Tomatoes from Greenland Gardens

Slightly larger than a grape or cherry tomato (though some overlap is common), these half perfectly onto fancy toast or a salad all their own, char and pop perfectly in a cast iron to accompany soft scrambled eggs, and can even be halved and roasted with garlic and herbs for a rich side, or base for a sauce!

Try our VEGGIE FILLED CHARD WRAPS using Chards and Tomatoes

Spray Free Basil from Twin River Gardens

Fragrant and floral, basil can lift up fresh dish or freshen up a slow-cooked sauce.

Or, try it in a cocktail!

Spray Free Radish Jonathan Farms

Peppery and fresh, and you can DEFINITELY eat the greens, too! These don't get NEARLY enough love. I love these absolutely on their own, sliced with a bit of salt in the morning next to some creamy scrambled eggs, but if you want some inspiration on how to use these in their entirety,  here are some amazing recipes using the entire radish. Try one, try them all!

Spray Free Green Onion from Jonathan Farms

Sweeter and milder than mature onions, and more potent than scallions, these are perfect for slicing thin as garnish, caramelized over the grill, or turned into soup!

Check out this recipe for Creamy Green Onion Soup, and sub them in here!

Organic Green Asparagus from Hearts and Roots

The Manitoba Asparagus is just BEAUTIFUL at this time of year.

Being one of the quickest and easiest veggies to prepare its a great vegetable to cook often in the spring. Despite the wet spring, it seems this year's crop is growing quickly. Now is the perfect time for fresh eating, freezing or pickling asparagus.

Asparagus is a perennial, meaning it grows every spring of its own accord, a well tended commercial asparagus patch can last for 20 years if cared for properly. They are hardy plants with deep roots. Low in calories but high in fiber and taste, this veggie is just the spring tonic we need to get into summer mode!!

Let's try this Asparagus in Creamy Sauce Recipe. Tell us what you think.

Broccolini from Jonathan Farms

Broccolini is NOT baby broccoli. It is in fact a cross between broccoli and Chinese broccoli. You get the florets found in broccoli and the longer stems and leaves found in Chinese broccoli. Its taste is more mild, with a sweet, earthy taste. And while it can be eaten raw, Broccolini is best when cooked.

Maybe try this Asian Broccolini with some sesame and ginger.

Spray Free Turnips from Jonathan Farms

Part of the brassica family, these are no stranger to most supermarkets here in Winnipeg, yet many have never ever cooked with them! They can sub in for a variety of vegetables in your current favourites: gratin or mashed in place of potato is a staple, pickled or served raw on a crudite platter for a little more zing, or try incorporating them into a matignon alongside your favourite braised or roasted meat, where they'll happily soak up the flavour!
