Spray Free Green & Red Kale from Twin River Garden
You may receive either Red and Green Kale! Strip all the kale leaves off the stems and store in a large ziplock bag in the fridge. It lasts for at least 2 weeks! Kale is a tougher green, however one of the most nutritious - filled with fibre, folate, vitamin A and K. It's a nice salad green for a fall salad, or mix with other lettuce/greens that you have. Dice it up into fine pieces for an egg scramble or omelette with tomatoes and any other veggies you have.
Organic Carrots from Blue Lagoon Organics
Organic Carrots are from Oak Valley. Store in the fridge crisper or a cool dry place for 3 weeks or more. For raw eating, peel cut up and store in a glass container of water in the fridge. They can be boiled, roasted or added to a slow cooker stew/roast.
Spray Free Butternut Squash from Wild Earth Farm
Butternut Squash is from Wild Earth Farm in Dugald. Store on the counter, in the pantry, or anywhere that is cool and dry and it will last for 2-3 months. This is one of the most popular squash among our customers and for good reason! It has a sweet creamy orange flesh and a thin pale orange skin (must be peeled). It makes the best soup, but can also be used for a butternut squash mac and cheese, squash and kale lasagna and roasted in small cubes for a fall salad.
Spray Free Green Kohlrabi from Wild Earth Farm
Also known as the German Tulip, sehr gut! This cultivar is of the same species as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, collard greens, and can be eaten raw or cooked.
Spray Free Gold Beets from Wild Earth Farm
Not only is its rich gold colour strikingly different from the red beet, but also whether baked, fried, or boiled you'll notice that the earthy taste of the red beet has been substituted for a sweeter one in the gold.
Spray Free Eggplant from Twin River Garden
A fall classic that needs little introduction, the eggplant offers an earthy flavour often described as "bland, bitter, or mild". However, the eggplant shines through when prepared with great recipes!
