***CHEF PRODUCE BOX***
YOUR BOX WILL CONTAIN 9-12 OF THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
Spray-Free Mixed Herb Bunch from Twin River Gardens
A mix of Thyme, Sage, Rosemary, and Tarragon. A Poultry-style mix sure to bring all the seasonal flavours to your bird this Thanksgiving.
Organic Sweet Bell Peppers from Blue Lagoon Organics
Peppers or Capsicums as some parts of the world call them are a simple but impactful flavour addition to any meal, Stuff with rice, and Italian sausage or crunch on them as a snack.
Organic Cherry Tomatoes from Blue Lagoon Organics
Did you know picking your tomatoes when they're still green and keeping them in a paper bag will help them ripen and turn red? Cherry Tomatoes have a higher water content making them juicier and thinner skins, great for fresh-eating.
Organic Golden Beets from Blue Lagoon Organics
Wonderfully sweet, with a mild flavour and an inviting gold colour, golden beets pair well with soft cheese, bacon, apples, fennel, and citrus. Try pickling/canning with ginger for a sweet addition to lunches in the winter.
Spray-Free Green Onions from Jonathan Farms
There are hundreds of varieties of onions in the world and green onions can be derived from all varieties of onions, it is just the matter of timing when they are harvested.
Spray-Free Red Potatoes from Jonathan Farms
Did you know that on average North Americans eat up to 55 pounds of potatoes every year? Red potatoes are best for potato salads and dishes where you need the potatoes to keep their shape.
Spray-Free Brussel Sprout Stalk from Jonathan Farms
Straight from the field right to your door, Brussel Sprouts grow like little trees, try roasting them still on the stalk, wrap bacon around each sprout and roast for 20 minutes on 325, top with a balsamic reduction and the stalk tastes similar to Broccoli stalks.
Spray-Free Cilantro Bunch from Jonathan Farms
Cilantro is kind of a touchy subject, the leaves of the coriander plant are the perfect fresh addition to Mexican or Chinese cuisine. If you don't like cilantro, it is actually genetic, so more than likely your parents don't like it either.
Spray-Free Minnesota 477/Frostbite Apples from Windhover Orchard
Bred at the University of Minnesota in the 1920s, released as Frostbite in 2010, but mostly known as Mn447. These apples are related to Sweet 16 apples and Honeycrisp. Very Crispy and mildly acidic. Intensely sweet with flavours of Molasses, Malt, Lychee and sometimes Banana. Great for fresh eating or in cider. Try this week's featured recipe: Apple Sweet Potato Quinoa Salad
