Welcome officially to Autumn! We really hope you have enjoyed your summer and that your subscription has made your summer that much better.
The growing season this year has been interesting to say the least, but your contribution to help local farmers continue what they know and do best is so greatly appreciated.
Here is what to expect in this week's box:

Organic Sweet Peppers from Blue Lagoon Organics
Peppers or Capsicums as some parts of the world call them are a simple but impactful flavour addition to any meal, Stuff with rice, and Italian sausage or crunch on them as a snack.
Organic Cherry Tomatoes from Blue Lagoon Organics
Did you know picking your tomatoes when they're still green and keeping them in a paper bag will help them ripen and turn red? Cherry Tomatoes have a higher water content making them juicier and thinner skins, great for fresh-eating.
Organic Thyme from Blue Lagoon Organics
Thyme is actually related to Oregano and is indigenous to the Mediterranean. It also has antibacterial, insecticidal and anti-fungal properties. Which has made it part of natural medicinal treatments in history such as treating the Black Death in the 15th century.
Organic Kennebec Potatoes from Oak Valley Organics
Kennebecs are a white flesh potato with rich earthy and nutty flavour, They are the most common white potato grown in North America and are best fried. Kennebecs are used by lots of potato chip companies in the US and Canada. California's famous chain In N Out uses Kennebec potatoes for their fries.
Spray-Free Collard Greens from Wild Earth Farms
Collards are apart of the Brassica Family along with cabbage, broccoli etc. Most commonly known for their popularity in the southern United States, they are a staple full of minerals and vitamins. Traditionally, they are boiled or sautéed. But they are similar to Kale since they are a non-head forming green.
Spray-Free Red Cabbage from Wild Earth Farms
Red Cabbage and other red/purple vegetables grow and change colour based on the PH levels of the soil. Usually once cooked, they turn blue or white, but adding acid like vinegar or acidic fruits keeps the purple colour. When a basic is added they turn green or yellow.

Celeriac or Celery Root originated in the Mediterranean and was actually mentioned in Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. It was used in ancient Chinese medicine for its inflammatory properties. It's a great addition to soups and casseroles
