Sour Cherry Chutney
Sour cherries slip out of sweets category and into savoury mode in this rich chutney!
Pair with rich meats such as duck, venison, bison, grass-fed beef and dark meat portions of poultry. This is everything we wish cranberry sauce was, and MORE so it's also great used in its place!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sour cherries, pitted
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup red onion, minced
- ½ cup raisins
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard seeds
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- ½ tsp ground cloves
- ½ tsp salt
Instructions:
- Place all ingredients into a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and continue to simmer, stirring often, until the fruit breaks down and most of the liquid has been absorbed (about 30 minutes).
