Protein Shares August 15/16

Here's What you can Expect in this Week's Bag:

Regular Protein:

Bacon - Bacon is from Spring Creek farm from pasture raised heritage pork fed a hormone and antibiotic free feed. Thaw the bacon and fry in a pan. Save the bacon fat in a jar for frying potatoes or greens! The bacon can also be used in a salad, on a burger, or a BLT sandwich. Chicken Breast - Chicken is from Oak Island and is freely run with no antibiotics or added hormones. Thaw and grill on the BBQ and serve with your favourite salad! If you want to make a recipe with it, you can put it in a stir fry, wrap, on skewers with veggies, or make lettuce wraps. These Chinese chicken lettuce wraps make for a nice light summer meal! Bison Short Ribs - Bison is from Spring Creek Farm. The bison is grass fed and freely ranged in rotating pastures. Bison is a flavorful, lean red meat alternative to beef. These ribs will need to be slowly cooked with sauce in a crock-pot, or braised for several hours before baking or barbequing. They will not turn out well just thawed and thrown onto the barbeque! Here€™s a recipe to try for Honey Orange Bison Ribs.

Gourmet Protein:

Rack of Lamb - Lamb was pasture raised at Spring Creek Farm. Lamb chops can come from the ribs or shoulder and are usually bone in. They go very well with flavours such as rosemary, dill or mint. They can be grilled on a low temperature or roasted in the oven! Here€™s a recipe for Lamb Chops with Herb Crust! Mild Italian Sausage - This sausage is from pork at Spring Creek Farm. Thaw completely then grill for 5-6 minutes on each side. This sausage can also be cut up and put onto skewers for the bbq, or cooked in a pan. You can chop it up and put it in a breakfast scramble or casserole!
